Musical Chairs; Retrans Assist & More
10 Sep 2010 -

Musical Chairs: Top video providers played a game of musical chairs in the second quarter as several of the 14 largest MVPDs in the nation moved up, or down, in the total video sub rankings. Among the most notable: Verizon's FiOS officially overtook Cablevision for the No. 7 spot in rankings. (They recorded 3,203,000 and 3,067,000 subs respectively.) For more on second quarter movements, don't miss our second quarter BRIDGE.

Programming & 'ers: VH1 has three new series on tap with the emphasis firmly on "reality" (La La Vazquez shopping for a wedding dress is just one of the "real" happenings.) --- GolTV has a deal with MP & Silva to deliver AC Milan Channel, a weekly program featuring repeat match telecasts of the premier Italian Serie A club AC Milan throughout the 2010-11 and 2011-12 season. It'll run on Tuesday's at 5 p.m. ET starting Sept. 14. --- Verizon's FiOS TV is the first to showcase Cinemax's MAXGO, a website streaming more than 700 hours of Cinemax programming monthly. It's much like the HBO GO launched earlier this year. --- The Outdoor Channel has launched a Conservation Tour of Duty in conjunction with its Outdoor Channel Corps initiative. Timed to National Public Lands Day, September 25th, 2010, the first tour will involve cleaning up public lands and outdoor spaces at eight sites throughout the country.

• Retrans Assist: US Telecom has joined the American Television Alliance, a coalition of MVPDs, consumer groups and independent programmers battling the FCC's current retransmission consent policies.
