ARION AND LATENS DELIVER WORLD FIRST FOR DTH

Latens, the leading provider of software security solutions for Pay-TV, today announced that their partnership with Arion Technology Inc, the premier Korean set-top box (STB) manufacturer has delivered a world first. Latens CAS and Arions STB technology have been integrated to deliver a secure, cardless one-way broadcasting solution for DTH broadcasters globally.
Latens CAS is the worlds only DVB® compliant software-only Conditional Access System (CAS) designed for operators of cable, DTH and DTT that do not have a return path. The cardless technology offers Pay-TV operators a more dynamic and secure anti-piracy strategy at a much lower cost than traditional card-based or embedded set-top systems.
The combination of Arions STB range and Latens CAS solution offers Satellite operators cost-effective, highly secure enhanced delivery of DTH Pay-TV services, says Thomas Roh, Director of sales & marketing at Arion.
As card sharing and control word re-distribution piracy becomes more prevalent in the global Pay-TV market, DTH operators need to take steps to ensure that content and revenues are being protected.
Arion and Latens have worked closely together to answer the demands of operators and provide a secure one way DTH STB, said Jean-Paul Heron, Director of Set-Top Box Partner Strategy at Latens. With Latens CAS and Arion STBs, the operator will have a low cost, low risk cardless solution with no manufacturing outlay, distribution or card replacement costs.
