About planned end of Yamal-100 satellite mission

August 9, 2010, Yamal-100 satellite was taken out of service after reaching its operational lifetime.

Gazprom Space Systems’ Mission Control Center performed operations to transfer Yamal-100 satellite from the geostationary orbit to the higher orbit. After orbit ascent all onboard systems of the satellite were switched off. Gazprom Space Systems made this procedure according to the recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union for release of the geostationary orbit from satellites reached their operational lifetime.

For reference

September 6, 1999 Yamal-100 satellite was launched to the 90 deg.E orbital position. Its weight was 1300 kg, payload power - 1.3 kW. The satellite carried ten 36 MHz transponders.

Now there is Yamal-201 satellite, launched in 2003, at the orbital position 90 deg.E, which has payload power of 2.2 kW and thirty equivalent (36 MHz) transponders.

In 2011 Yamal-300K satellite with the payload power of 5.6 kW and 52 equivalent transponders will be launched to this orbital position.

And in 2013 Yamal-401 satellite with the payload power more than 11 kW and 88 equivalent transponders will be launched to the 90 deg.E orbital position.
